A History of Success
Our story goes way back to 1963, when we were known as Ingersoll Engineers.
In fact, we were originally established as a subsidiary of the Ingersoll Machine Milling Company to support the installation of Ingersoll’s large industrial machines.
By 1983, we were working for a wide range of clients and had grown in Europe with offices in the UK, France and Germany. Our services had expanded to address not only technical issues with equipment, but also all aspects of a manufacturing business, including product costing, organization issues and information systems support.
In 1989, we wrote the landmark book Making Manufacturing Cells Work, published by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). On the heels of that, we established the “Four Dimensions of Cellular Manufacturing” consisting of Equipment, People, Support (scheduling and information systems) and Accountability (performance measures). That same year we opened offices in Italy and Australia.
In 2001, Implementation Services acquired our firm, leveraging our rich knowledge in operations optimization with the goal of becoming the world’s leading implementation firm — Implementation Engineers.
It was during this time that we combined the firm’s collective knowledge and experiences with more recent industry advancements like the Toyota Production System, World-Class Manufacturing, Reengineering, Lean Manufacturing, Change Management, Value Stream Mapping, Balanced Scorecard, Six Sigma, Organisational Development and new Performance Measurement capabilities, to form the foundation for the creation of enCompass®.
In 2008, we added proprietary information technology capabilities to our services and launched Performance Analytix®, a stand-alone component of enCompass®, that enables companies to visually measure and analyse their business in real time, fostering process optimization.
We believe that our rich history, coupled with our research, thought leadership and innovation, differentiates Implementation Engineers from the consulting industry in terms of implementing global, dynamic operational solutions for our clients.
