In Engineering and Product Development, capturing the design intent, both in what is required and what delights a customer is truly the first step. Converting the intent into a functional design which is capable, robust, and manufacturable, requires input from the supply chain and internal operations. Clearing defining Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics and related specifications allows suppliers and internal operations to estimate their process and product capabilities, built affordability models and incorporate these results when making design decisions.
On-going Supplier and Operations quality improvement is a requirement in any system, regardless of industry. To remain competitive, process capability and cost variance must be continuously understood and improved. Focus must remain on customer CTQ’s in creating the most efficient and capable processes to meet those specifications. Often, continuous improvement efforts focus on the wrong thing, resulting in little or no impact to the customer experience. At Implementation Engineers, we are experts in diagnosing quality issues in a manner based on data and facts, versus opinion. Establishing true root causes to issues through relentless analytical and statistical means is key in any successful quality improvement. Focus must be on improved capability rather than mass inspection and test.
Human Capital Development is key to sustaining a Quality Culture. Throughout engagements we coach client team members during all aspects of implementation execution. In addition, we identify formal training requirements and co-design training plans to ensure knowledge transfer.
