Implementation Engineers utilizes connected worked applications to improve how information is delivered to operators and how data is captured from shop floor processes. These solutions include embedded multimedia such as pictures, videos, 3D models, etc., to provide the user with robust information to complete their tasks efficiently and accurately. Data captured with these tools includes clean process data, cycle times, pictures of issues, completion records, etc. – critical information that can be used to monitor and improve processes.

Our client was a leading manufacturer of personal care and beauty products with many manufacturing facilities in North America. Our client partnered with Implementation Engineers to improve operational inefficiencies and units per direct labor hour. The analysis phase identified the sampling process as a key driver of production delays. The sampling process was a manual, paper-based system that lacked any visibility into sample status for the various departments involved. To improve this process, Implementation Engineers built a sample tracking application on Tulip’s no-code platform to digitize the process – improving sample cycle times and process visibility to prevent production stoppages. Activities during this project included:
- Mapped the sampling process from sample generation through results reporting with all sample types and variation documented
- Designed operational functional diagrams to visualize how application would function at each process step
- Built fully functional application in Tulip platform and iterated with key users in initial user acceptance testing
- Deployed application in production and provided shop floor coaching across all shifts for adoption
- Developed visualization dashboards and deployed these on TVs in critical production areas to visually manage sampling and avoid production impacts
- Thoroughly documented the system configuration and built training material for long term sustainability
