A good reliability engineering capability supports an organization’s ability to reduce the number of equipment breakdowns and downtime, and reduce the overall maintenance spend when in general reactive maintenance is more expensive than preventative maintenance. By incorporating sound reliability engineering practices, companies can proactively identify and address potential equipment failures, optimize equipment-specific asset management strategies, and enhance overall facility operational performance. This approach leads to improved equipment reliability, reduced operational risks, and ultimately increased profitability.
There were minimal formal reliability engineering processes in place for our copper rod mill client and the lack of reliability engineering processes led to decreased equipment availability, reliability and increased overall life cycle cost.
