Tools

A primary element of the management operating system, and a direct tie-in to performance improvement efforts, is the set of Tools used to manage daily work. Examples of these Tools include visual management, leader standard work, Gemba (typically integrated into the daily supervisor routine), and problem-solving techniques. We custom fit problem-solving methods to each client, and coach and mentor the workforce on the effective use of techniques such as A3, 5-Why, Fishbone, and Lean / Kaizen. The objectives of these tools are to support the personnel that integrate into the management system to be as effective as possible, to move from frequent firefighting and reactive management to more active supervisory behaviors, and to learn how to identify and address issues using structured and proven methods.

IX® in Action

Our client specialized in steel fabrication, welding, electronic assembly and switch assembly and had several challenges within their management operating system. These challenges included a lack of clarity and direction for supervisors in their daily tasks, which resulted in reactive rather than proactive behavior. The goal of implementation was to redesign and update a Management Operating System that supported and sustained the production results, identified root cause issues, quality assurance, provided structure, and brought behavioral change to make it effective and sustainable.
